Course Rep Poster

This year the Course Reps system is undergoing a massive overhaul. The Guild have a brand new Student Representation and Experience Coordinator who works alongside the Education Officer to improve the way in which you can communicate your problems, issues, ideas and questions to your department! The number one method of doing this is to contact your course rep!

What is a Course Rep?

Course Reps are students that are elected within departments to represent their fellow students in a range of issues that may affect them on an academic level. They provide the department with an insight on the views of students and act as a connecting piece between student and staff members. This mostly takes place on the Student Staff Consultative Committees (SSCC) that run twice a semester. It’s their responsibility to make sure that the students views are put across effectively!

What is a Senior Rep?

A Senior Rep is a Course Rep who has been elected to sit on the Course Reps Council. Whereas Course Reps sit on the SSCC meetings in their departments to discuss issues with them, Senior Reps sit on a University-wide Council to discuss issues that come out of their SSCC meetings with the Guild and other Senior Reps. This is to make sure that we hear about how things are going in your departments, but also so that we can help get any issues resolved if needed.

Are Course Reps trained?

Oh yes! Every course rep has been trained to the highest standard by Emily (the Student Representation and Experience Coordinator) and Bethan (the Education Officer). The training documents can be downloaded from the bottom of this page and, if you're a course rep, you can come and collect your handbook from Emily's office on any Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Reps are trained on a wide variety of issues and have the know-how to listen, assist and stand-up for students!

How do I find my Course Rep?

You can click here to find the email address of your Course Rep. You can email them about any academic issues you might be facing, any suggestions or comments you might have about your department, degree scheme, module, any ideas and any questions! If you have any problems getting in touch with your rep, you can also email Emily, the Student Representation and Experience Coordinator

How do I become a Course Rep?

The course reps for the academic year 2010/2011 have already been elected, but elections for the next year will be well publicised within your departments. Make sure you keep an eye-out for posters and emails for your opportunity to represent your fellow students to the University.
