Hi everyone! Here’s an update about what’s happening with society memberships this year:

Well, for starters we’re getting rid of the rather outdated ‘Board of Societies’ card in favour of a much simpler membership system.  You will be able to get your society membership online from the Guild website by following these simple steps:

1. Go to the Guild website: www.aberguild.co.uk
2. Click on the ‘Sports and Activities’ menu and then select ‘Buy Society Membership’
3. Complete the simple online form and pay the £4 fee using a debit or credit card
4. Read and keep the email that you will be sent automatically, it will give you your unique society membership number.

Using your membership number, you are then free to join as many societies as you like! Remember that each society will also have an individual joining fee (e.g. to join the Conservation Volunteers will cost you £4 in addition to your £4 society membership).

So, what do you get for your £4? Primarily, your membership fee pays for your insurance while you’re taking part in society activities, it might seem over the top but accidents can and do happen. Under your insurance, you are covered for:

• Public liability for events
• Cover for permanent and temporary disablement.
